Middle East and media co-op

mediaco-op's Lucinda Broadbent was invited to coach documentary film-makers from Middle-Eastern countries at a pitching workshop in Turkey.  Winner of the $15,000 ITVS prize at the event was Palestinian director Emad Burnat, with "Five Broken Cameras", a dramatic documentary on his village's resistance against Israel's security fence. 

"A huge thanks to Lucinda for her advice and input," said Emad, whose life was saved when an Israeli bullet hit his camera instead of his face. 

 

training course at STV

Chief Execs from five different social enterprises and voluntary organistions attended mediaco-op’s Advanced Media Training course, held at STV studios. Former STV reporter Claire Dean was one of the tutors. Participants’ feedback included:

“It was splendid! Fantastic.” “The best training I've ever done, and I've done a lot of good training.” “I learnt a lot – much more than I had anticipated.” “Excellent. I loved being thrown in at the deep end.”

 

 

Gender roadshow

Oxfam celebrated their European GenderWorks project with a roadshow across the UK, hitting London, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff. Next stop is Brussels.  "mediaco-op's multi-language DVD is a highlight of our two-year project," commented Oxfam. Roaring online

"Roars not Whispers' youth groups from Stirling and from Royston have made video clips to track and evaluate their progress, facilitated by media co-op.
"It was awesome" said one of the teenage participants, "I was nervous at first but Inigo really made me feel at ease and boosted my confidence".

Youth Parliament

Ex-STV reporter Claire Dean joined media co-op to deliver media training to members of the Scottish Youth Parliament. “Really worthwhile and enjoyable” commented the teenage politicians. “I feel I’ve got a head start now when I have to give a real interview to the media.” “Fantastic fun”.
