mediaco-op has produced two video clips for Scottish Women’s Aid's high profile campaign against domestic abuse. The key focus of these clips is that anyone, even bystanders, can help stop abuse; it isn’t just the responsibility of the abused or abusers. Launched at the Scottish parliament, and featured on STV news, the campaign is set to challenge and mobilise public opinion across Scotland.

children's panel

mediaco-op is producing a DVD guide to the Children's Hearings system, aimed at parents with learning disabilities. Commissioned by the SCLD and Enable Scotland, the DVD stresses the rights of parents facing a Children's Panel.

 

 

Angola & Lithuania

mediaco-op welcomes a new intern, the aspiring young filmmaker Jucilino Levis Albano, from Angola. Jucilino's placement is through the Bridges Programme charity for refugees and asylum-seekers.

Another recent intern has been Vilte Vaitkute, an editor from Lithuania, on the Second Light apprenticeship scheme for Ethnic Minorities at G-mac.

 

16 days of action

Two recent mediaco-op productions are featured in the national "16 Days of Action" to end violence against women.

mediaco-op's Lucinda Broadbent has been tutoring on an international documentary-makers training course. Lucinda worked with flim-makers from Morocco and Palestine to Serbia and Croatia on films about racism and Human Rights. The image is from a film about justice in the Congo.

Barnardo's Scotland commissioned 14 short films from mediaco-op, to record their unique day-long event "Open Think" for online audiences. Daring ideas for innovation and reform, shared by thinkers from across Scotland and the UK, in partnership with the RSA and Scotland's Futures Forum. Click here to view.

 

pedal for scotland

mediaco-op filmed the 9,000 hardy folk who cycled 51 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh in the Pedal for Scotland charity bike ride. It's part of a DVD for the Scottish co-operative Scotmid, celebrating their £229,000 donations to charities and community groups.

Who Cares? Scotland launched their 2-minute campaigning film "Give Me a Chance" in Glasgow's George Square in a high-profile event featured on BBC Newsnight. mediaco-op worked with four looked-after teenagers to produce the participatory film for the campaign. Click here to watch it
